A minimally invasive procedure that treats fibroids in the uterus which are causing heavy menstrual bleeding, pain, and pressure on the bladder or bowel. Using fluoroscopy, which is real-time x-ray, a doctor inserts medication into the uterus and fibroids that will block the arteries providing blood to the fibroids. This stops them from growing and causes them to shrink.
Weather Advisory: Temporary Door Closure
Due to extreme cold, access through the Moakley Building's entrance off Boston Medical Center Place will be temporarily closed from 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, through 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9.
All patients and visitors should use the main entrance for the Menino and Yawkey Buildings during this time. The hospital remains open and operating as normal.
