Weather Advisory: Temporary Door Closure

Due to extreme cold, access through the Moakley Building's entrance off Boston Medical Center Place will be temporarily closed from 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, through 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2.

All patients and visitors should use the main entrance for the Menino and Yawkey Buildings during this time. The hospital remains open and operating as normal.

We appreciate your patience as we take these precautions during severe winter weather.

Double balloon enteroscopy employs an endoscope with latex balloons attached at the tips that can be inflated and deflated with air from a pressure-controlled pump system. This technique can be performed using either an oral or anal route. Indications for double balloon enteroscopy include obscure gastrointestinal bleeding, Crohn's disease, unexplained diarrhea, but also pancreaticobiliary disease in patients with altered anatomy such as Roux-en-Y, access to the excluded stomach after bariatric surgery, and incomplete colonoscopy.
