An Update Regarding Seasonal Illnesses

To help prevent the spread of seasonal respiratory illnesses, we strongly encourage all visitors to wear a mask while in ambulatory clinics or inpatient units. Surgical masks are available at hospital and clinic entrances. Patients with respiratory illnesses should also wear masks. Thank you for helping protect our patients, staff, and community.

About

Rachel Rome completed her medical school and internal medicine residency at Brown University and Rhode Island Hospital. She then completed her fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at MGH/DFCI. She spent a year and a half in hematology/oncology training before realizing her career passion is in palliative medicine. She is the team's inpatient lead and works to ensure palliative care management in the hospital is up to the gold standards our patients deserve. She is also passionate about medical education and serves as the medical student clerkship director. She loves working in palliative care because it allows her to focus on making people feel better, whether by helping with symptoms or by having conversations that allow people to have a better end of life experience.
