An Update Regarding Seasonal Illnesses

To help prevent the spread of seasonal respiratory illnesses, we strongly encourage all visitors to wear a mask while in ambulatory clinics or inpatient units. Surgical masks are available at hospital and clinic entrances. Patients with respiratory illnesses should also wear masks. Thank you for helping protect our patients, staff, and community.

About

Naomi Ko, MD, MPH, is a medical oncologist at Boston Medical Center (BMC) specializing in the treatment of breast cancer. She is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. Dr. Ko has had a lifelong interest in social justice and health equity, and earned her MD/MPH at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and School of Health, where she studied health outcomes in vulnerable populations. At BMC, she strives to understand the driving factors behind real-world gaps in applying the latest evidence-based cancer care to treating vulnerable and minority women with breast cancer, and is studying connections between tumor biology, poverty, communications, and treatment regimens as they relate to breast cancer outcomes in different racial and ethnic breast cancer populations. As a care provider, she focuses her recommendations and treatment on the specific needs of each unique patient, considering each patient’s “whole person” and striving to make every patient feel seen and heard.
