About

Jose Rios, MD, ABIHM, is a board-certified anesthesiologist at Boston Medical Center (BMC) in Boston, Massachusetts, and an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, where he teaches residents, medical students, and nurse anesthesia students.

Dr. Rios earned his medical degree from the Universidad de Panama Faculty of Medicine. He completed his residency at Boston University Medical Center and subsequently completed a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesia at the same institution.

Dr. Rios has been practicing medicine for thirty years and anesthesia for twenty. He believes that integrative and holistic medicine have a place in anesthesia and pain management. He also has interests in healthcare information technology and cybersecurity and financial planning for healthcare workers.

Additionally, Dr. Rios is a polyglot at heart. He speaks Spanish and French proficiently and has studied Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole (Kabuverdianu or Kriolu), and German.
