Katharine (“Katie”) B. Hutchinson, MSN, DrPH, CNM, is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) and public health researcher at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. She is also an Associate Professor of the Practice at the Boston College Connell School of Nursing, where she directs the Midwifery and Women’s Health Program.

Katie holds an undergraduate degree from Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Yale School of Nursing in New Haven, Connecticut, and subsequently completed a Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH) at Boston University School of Public Health. Her research focuses on access to maternity care, promoting dignified and respectful care during childbirth, and quality-of-care assessment.

Katie has extensive clinical experience, having worked as a nurse-midwife for over 15 years. In addition to providing care in the Labor, Delivery, and Postpartum Care unit at BMC, she sees patients at BMC's Refugee Women's Health Clinic (RWHC) and has a strong interest in refugee care and advocacy, reproductive health, and primary care.

In addition to English, Katie is proficient in French.
