Our mission is to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and culturally sensitive sexual and reproductive health services to newcomer, refugee, asylum-seeking, and recent immigrant communities in the Greater Boston area. Obstetric and gynecologic care is available in many languages from clinicians who speak Spanish, French, and Haitian Creole, as well as BMC Interpreter Services. As part of the Immigrant and Refugee Health Center, our interdisciplinary team strives to promote health care as a human right, providing our patients with the care and support they need to heal, rebuild, and thrive.

Research
Our RWHC research team, in conjunction with the larger, cross-departmental team at the BMC Immigrant and Refugee Health Center, aims to dismantle inequities in sexual and reproductive health for newcomers.
At the intersection of migrant and reproductive justice, current studies range from assessing birth outcomes for migrant and newcomer individuals to improving access to abortion care.
Forensic Gynecologic Evaluations
A forensic gynecologic evaluation (FGE), also known as a gynecologic asylum evaluation, is conducted by independent physicians and sexual and reproductive health professionals to document the consequences of physical harm on an asylum-seeker.
Clinical professionals (MDs, CNMs, NPs, LICSWs) conduct the FGE. All volunteer evaluators within the Refugee Women’s Health Clinic are clinicians or trainees affiliated with Boston Medical Center and the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.
To request a Forensic Gynecologic Evaluation/Gynecologic Asylum Evaluation, please complete our intake form.
If you have questions about the process, please contact us at FMEG@bmc.org and include “Forensic GYN Evaluation” in the subject line.
