Boston Medical Center’s Trauma Center and Emergency Department is a state-of-the-art facility with 24-hour coverage by highly skilled staff who provide comprehensive emergency medical care. The many specialty services that comprise our trauma center take great pride in their unwavering support to this commitment.

• We are the busiest provider of trauma and emergency services in New England, with more than 130,000 emergency visits and more than 2,000 trauma admissions per year
• We are staffed with seven full-time, dedicated trauma and critical care attending surgeons and physicians.
• Our Boston trauma center is the longest continuously verified Level I trauma center in New England

An important distinguishing characteristic of BMC’s trauma and emergency services is the experience and expertise of the many subspecialty services that are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to any ill or injured patient in need. Trauma and emergency services have long been recognized as the flagship programs at this institution and have become a destination for professional education and training as well as leadership within the medical and nursing community.  

We have a long-standing legacy of caring for the critically ill and injured. This began with our predecessor institution, the Boston City Hospital, and has expanded institution-wide today at Boston Medical Center; the primary teaching hospital of Boston University School of Medicine.
