BMC's skull base surgery team are experienced in doing what is called an "open procedure." This is a procedure by which tumors are removed using very carefully placed incisions along the face and/or skull to remove a tumor. This type of surgery often has good functional and cosmetic outcomes. Recovery time from open procedures are longer than with an endoscopic approach.
Weather Advisory: Temporary Door Closure
Due to extreme cold, access through the Moakley Building's entrance off Boston Medical Center Place will be temporarily closed from 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, through 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2.
All patients and visitors should use the main entrance for the Menino and Yawkey Buildings during this time. The hospital remains open and operating as normal.
