Margaret S. Lee, MD, PhD, FAAD, is a board-certified pediatric dermatologist at Boston Medical Center (BMC), where she directs the Division of Pediatric Dermatology, and at Boston Medical Center - South (BMC South). She is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.
Dr. Lee holds a Bachelor of Science degree from ... the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned her medical degree as well as a doctorate in pathology and laboratory medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. She completed an internship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, and her dermatology residency back in Boston at Boston Medical Center. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Pediatric Dermatology at Boston Children’s Hospital. She has been in clinical practice for over 15 years.
Dr. Lee is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD) and a member of multiple professional societies including the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance, International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies, and Skin of Color Society. She has earned multiple awards for her teaching, innovation, and merit, including the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine Distinguished Faculty Award, Boston Top Doctors Award, and the 2024 Boston University Medical Group (BUMG) Excellence in Care Award with induction into the BUMG Clinical Excellence Society.
A committed educator, Dr. Lee is passionate about the arts and coaching in medical education and practice. As a medical student she cofounded the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine Creative Arts Society and its literary journal, Whorl. After several years coaching for the BUMC Professionalism Resource Service, she founded the BUMC Coaching Collaborative in 2024.
Dr. Lee’s research focuses on psychosocial health in pediatric dermatology, patient education and empowerment, and atopic dermatitis and vascular anomalies (especially in context of patient advocacy). She founded the nonprofit Comfortable in Our Skin, whose mission is to help young people of all appearances and abilities achieve their full potential by fostering peer support and celebrating unity in diversity.
