Katherine R. Standish, MD, MS, NABBLM-C, is a board-certified family medicine physician and breastfeeding and lactation medicine specialist and researcher at Boston Medical Center (BMC), and an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.
Dr. Standish is focused on clinical interventions to improve breastfeeding outcomes and support families in achieving their infant feeding ... plans. With colleagues in Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Nursing, she founded the Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine Center at BMC, which focuses on training, research, and clinical services for breastfeeding dyads.
Dr. Standish earned her medical degree from Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, and also holds a master's degree in epidemiology from the Boston University School of Public Health. Dr. Standish completed her family medicine residency as well as a research fellowship at Boston University Medical Center. She subsequently completed a Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine fellowship through the University of Rochester in New York.
In addition to her board certification in Family Medicine, Dr. Standish is certified in breastfeeding and lactation medicine by the North American Board of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine (NABBLM-C).
Dr. Standish lived for many years in Nicaragua and Mexico and speaks Spanish fluently.
