The Autism Program at Boston Medical Center

The Autism Program offers a comprehensive collection of resources about ASD, special education and ABA services, transitioning to adulthood, social stories, and first-then cards. These are also available in Spanish.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institute of Health have information that is helpful in understanding the symptoms, risk factors, and treatments for autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

DSM-5 Diagnostic Criteria

The official ASD diagnostic criteria according to the 5th edition of the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5), published in May 2013, is here. It differentiates three levels of severity based on the categories of social communication and restricted, repetitive behaviors.
