Patients who require hospitalization are admitted to the Geriatrics Inpatient Service and care is directed by one of the geriatrics doctors. The inpatient team includes both physicians and nurses specializing in geriatrics as well as pharmacists, physical and occupational therapists, social services, and discharge planning specialists as needed. In addition, access to doctors in more than 70 medical specialties ensures care is comprehensive and convenient.

When patients are ready to leave the hospital, the inpatient team coordinates with care providers within and outside of the hospital to ensure that the necessary services for continued well-being are received.
