Open surgery is a type of surgery where your surgeon will cut through skin and tissue to have a full view of the area they're operating on. This is also called "traditional" surgery and creates a large incision. This can lead to a longer recovery time, higher risk of infection, and bigger scars. However, it allows the surgeon to have a better view of the surgical site and can be used for most surgical needs.
