Kathryn (“Kate”) M. Hartshorne, MSN, CNM, IBCLC, is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Boston Medical Center (BMC), and an Instructor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Kate earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms (Elms College) in Chicopee, Massachusetts, and her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Frontier Nursing University in Versailles, Kentucky.

Kate has been working with birthing families for over 20 years and is passionate about helping people achieve their reproductive goals with dignity and respect. In addition to seeing patients at BMC for regular prenatal care and for labor, delivery, and postpartum care, she travels to neighborhoods around Boston for home visits as part of BMC’s Curbside Care community health program for new parents and their newborns.
