Daniel P. Buckley, MS, CCC-SLP

Daniel P. Buckley, MS, CCC-SLP, is a senior clinical speech and language pathologist in the Center for Voice and Swallowing within the Department of Ear, Nose, and Throat (Otolaryngology) at Boston Medical Center (BMC). He is also an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and a faculty lecturer within Boston University’s Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences.

Daniel holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in speech–language pathology from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston and completed a clinical fellowship in Voice, Swallowing, and Upper Airway Disorders at the USC Voice Center in conjunction with the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California.

Since 2017, Daniel has worked with BU researcher Dr. Cara Stepp at the Stepp Lab for Sensorimotor Rehabilitation Engineering, on research into the acoustic assessment of voice disorders, novel interventions for gender-affirming voice care, and high-speed laryngeal imaging in laryngeal dystonia, muscle tension dysphonia, and Parkinson's disease. His clinical research at BMC has involved improving the assessment and intervention for laryngeal muscle tension-based disorders.

Daniel's professional interests include providing advanced clinical training to the next generation of speech-language pathologists and promoting interdisciplinary, translational voice disorder research derived from areas of clinical need. He teaches a graduate-level voice and resonance disorders course and supervises graduate clinicians. He is also invested in refining and providing sensitive and culturally responsible voice care for individuals from marginalized communities.
