About

Alexa S. Dougherty, MSN, PHN, CNM, is a certified nurse-midwife at Boston Medical Center (BMC). She has nearly a decade of experience providing individuals and families with high-quality, safe, and equitable sexual and reproductive health care.

Alexa earned her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland, and subsequently completed the requirements for a post-master’s certificate in Nurse Midwifery at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. Before becoming a nurse-midwife, she worked both as a birth doula and as a registered nurse (RN) providing home care for disabled patients.

In addition to being certified as a nurse-midwife, Alexa is also a certified Public Health Nurse (PHN).
