An Update Regarding Seasonal Illnesses

To help prevent the spread of seasonal respiratory illnesses, we strongly encourage all visitors to wear a mask while in ambulatory clinics or inpatient units. Surgical masks are available at hospital and clinic entrances. Patients with respiratory illnesses should also wear masks. Thank you for helping protect our patients, staff, and community.

Tendon repair is a way to help heal injured tendons. It may involve sewing torn or damaged ends of the tendon together, or replacing the tendon entirely.

Tendons are bands of tissue that connect muscles to bones. They help your limbs move and help prevent muscle injuries. They can be damaged through overuse, injuries, health problems like arthritis, or normal aging.

If a tendon is damaged or torn, your surgeon may be able to repair it by sewing the damaged ends together. If your tendon injury is severe, they may need to replace the tendon with one from another part of your body or with an artificial tendon.

Healing from tendon repair can take up to three months. You'll need to use a splint or cast for at least part of that time, and do physical therapy.
