Rachel A. Achu-Lopes, MD

Rachel A. Achu-Lopes, MD, is a board-certified anesthesiologist at Boston Medical Center (BMC), where she serves as Director of Obstetric Anesthesiology. Dr. Achu-Lopes is also an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Director of Opportunity and Engagement for the Department of Anesthesiology at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Dr. Achu-Lopes earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Barbados and completed her residency training in anesthesiology at Boston Medical Center. She has experience in managing complex deliveries, high-risk pregnancies, maternal hemorrhage, and postpartum pain management.

She has several publications on her research interests, which include pain management during pregnancy and racial disparities in healthcare.
