P. Joseph Tobias, MD, MS

P. Joseph Tobias, MD, MS, is a board-certified endocrine and general surgeon at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and BMC Brighton and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Dr. Tobias received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York City. He completed his residency in general surgery at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, followed by fellowships in both endocrine surgery and clinical medical ethics at the University of Chicago. He also holds a Master of Sciences (MS) degree in Public Health Sciences from the University of Chicago.

Dr. Tobias cares for patients with surgical conditions of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands, as well as neuroendocrine tumors of the small bowel and pancreas.

His research focuses on clinical outcomes in endocrine surgery as well as medical humanities and ethics.
