About

Onyemaechi (“Onyema”) C. Onyekwu, MSN, CNM, is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Boston Medical Center (BMC), where she also serves as the Clinical Director of the Birth Sisters Doula Service. Additionally, she is an Instructor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Born and raised in Boston, Onyema holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University and nursing degree from Bay State College. She subsequently earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Frontier Nursing University in Versailles, Kentucky, and completed her midwifery apprenticeship at Boston Medical Center.

Onyema provides prenatal care at Codman Square Community Health Center as well as BMC. She has a strong interest in family advocacy, healthcare delivery, and the socioeconomic factors of healthcare that affect us all on a day-to-day basis.
