Alejandro Barrera-Godínez, MD, is a dermatologist at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and Boston Medical Center – South (BMC South) and an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Dr. Barrera-Godínez earned his medical degree from the Ignacio A. Santos School of Medicine at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in Mexico. He completed both internal medicine and dermatology residency training programs in Mexico City at the Salvador Zubirán National Institute of Health Sciences and Nutrition. He then moved to Boston to partake in Boston University’s International Graduate Training Program and subsequently completed a fellowship in Advanced Clinical Dermatology through the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Dr. Barrera-Godínez is passionate about health equity, particularly in Latino and LGBTQ+ communities. His clinical and research interests include complex medical and inpatient dermatology, medical mycology, nail pathology, and dermatology in populations identifying as LGBTQ+.
