All patients and visitors on our main campus must enter our hospital via Shapiro, Menino, or Moakley buildings, where they will be greeted by team members at a new centralized check-in desk before continuing to the hospital. Whether for diagnostics, treatment, a single consultation, second opinion or ongoing follow-up, BMC geriatric physicians will keep the consulting physician fully informed of the patient's treatment plan and coordinate long term management.

Specialized services for patients referred for evaluation and/or care include:

  • Office-based geriatrics primary care at our Geriatrics Ambulatory Practice
  • Interdisciplinary geriatrics consultation to give the primary provider a complete evaluation of the older patient along with a comprehensive evaluation report and suggested next steps and resources
  • Interim or long-term geriatrics primary care for patients requiring nursing home care
  • Home-based primary care for patients who are functionally home-bound and no longer able to be seen in an ambulatory care setting
  • Inpatient specialized geriatrics care for those requiring evaluation and acute hospital care
