Pediatrics – NICU Inpatient Services

As a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Boston Medical Center’s NICU has the capacity to take care of the most critically ill newborns, whether full term or premature. We have state-of-the-art monitoring equipment, a highly trained and skilled staff and are well-prepared to manage the most complex cases. In addition, we support developmentally appropriate care including kangaroo care and breastfeeding, which are important to infants cared for in the NICU.

Baby Serena

Watch this video about baby Serena who received lifesaving care at BMC. When Serena was born without a heartbeat, the BMC NICU staff worked to save her oxygen-deprived brain with the Cool Cap device – the only FDA approved brain cooling therapy.  Read more about Serena’s story.
