David Nunes, MD
Hepatitis C and B, hepatic fibrosis, virtual colonoscopy, gallstone disease

Dr. Nunes is an attending physician at Boston Medical Center in the Section of Gastroenterology and is Associate Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Nunes graduated from Trinity College Dublin in Ireland and completed his medical residency and gastroenterology fellowship in Dublin. Prior to coming to the United States, he was lecturer in medicine at Trinity College Dublin. Dr. Nunes joined the faculty at Boston University in 1992 and is board certified in medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Nunes clinical interests include the evaluation of current therapies for hepatitis C and B and the use of serological markers for the evaluation of hepatic fibrosis. In addition, he has recently completed several collaborative studies with the Department of Radiology on the use of virtual colonoscopy as a potential method for colorectal cancer screening. His basic science interests include the role of mucins and trefoil proteins in the pathogenesis of cholesterol gallstone disease and their role in tissue repair.
