We are recruiting new members for BMC’s Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC) with the aim of creating diverse and collaborative partnerships with BMC patients, families, and caregivers, as well as with staff from different areas across BMC.
The PFAC aims to improve operations across the BMC health system and achieve our mission for patient-centered and equitable care. Patient experiences, perspectives, and insights are key to understanding how the hospital works on the ground and how people experience it. It is important for us to know what we are doing well and what we can do better.
The PFAC has regular meetings to discuss wide-ranging work across BMC. Previous projects include:
- Redesign of BMC’s emergency room waiting area
- Expansion of primary care services
- Initiative to increase multilingual signage and interpretive services
- Revision of patient satisfaction surveys
- Screening of a documentary for BMC medical students about helping patients in the ER.
We welcome you to join us and become part of BMC’s PFAC. We want to create open and trusting partnerships so that we can achieve meaningful change as part of a diverse team. We also want to build the PFAC together and find ways of working that empower our members and creates accountability for the hospital system. As a strong and transparent group, we will follow and fulfill BMC’s three cornerstone values:
Built on Respect, Powered by Empathy
We care about our patients, employees, and community - and we’re committed to doing right by them each and every day.
Impossibility doesn’t live here. Instead, we’re motivated by what can be - and we’ll move mountains to make it happen.
Many Faces Create Our Greatness
Diversity is our heart and soul - and when it comes to inclusion, we’re all in.
How to Get Involved
You will be required to attend around 6-12 meetings a year and will be reimbursed for expenses and time spent working with us. If you would like to work with us but can’t commit to these meetings, we would still love to hear from you. You will be asked to participate in a brief phone interview so we can hear more about you and your areas of interest.
If you are interested in finding out more or joining the PFAC, please contact Sophie Wilson, patient insights manager, at Sophie.Wilson@bmc.org.
