The Department’s scientists are conducting basic, clinical, and epidemiological research in many areas of rheumatology. They are currently engaged in basic and clinical studies of scleroderma, vasculitis, and amyloidosis, as well as clinical trials of promising therapies. They are studying inflammation and cellular immune function in connective tissue disease, and are conducting clinical and epidemiological studies of major rheumatic diseases, including scleroderma, osteoarthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and osteoporosis.
