Are you experiencing symptoms such as trouble with urine or bowel control, pressure or discomfort from a “dropped” bladder or uterus, difficulty with emptying your bowels or bladder, multiple urinary tract infections, and/or other painful or uncomfortable problems with your pelvic organs? If so, the experts at BMC are here to help.
The Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) team, also known as urogynecology, treats women who are suffering from problems with their pelvic organs and pelvic muscles. The team is trained to work closely with patients to find the treatment that works best for them.
“We understand that having a pelvic organ disorder can greatly impact a patient’s quality of life and we are committed to helping them regain normal function and return to their daily activities without having to worry about their symptoms getting in the way,” says J.R. Larrieux, MD, MPH, director of the division of FPMRS. “Our friendly staff is passionate about women’s health and providing personalized care for each patient. We’ll work hard to address why you are experiencing your symptoms and determine the best treatment option for you.”
The team is able to offer a number of non-surgical treatment options including education, pessaries, injections, and more. Surgical treatments include minimally-invasive surgical approaches, such as vaginal and laparoscopic surgery. The team also works closely with care teams in the following departments to coordinate patient care–-colorectal surgery, gastroenterology, urology, integrative medicine, and pelvic floor physical therapy.
Alongside Dr. Larrieux on the urogynecology team are Padma Kandadai, MD, MPH and Mallika Anand, MD, MS. The experience and skill of the board-certified doctors and nursing staff enables them to care for complex pelvic floor disorders.
