Jose Alcibiades Fernandez Abinader, MD, is a neurosurgeon at Boston Medical Center (BMC), as well as an assistant professor and Director of Spine Neurosurgery at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. Dr. Fernandez-Abinader's primary focus is complex and minimally invasive spine surgery, with a particular interest in addressing spinal oncology and performing excisions of intradural tumors. His expertise also encompasses adult degenerative spine conditions, trauma-related spine surgery, spine reconstruction, and deformity-related spine procedures. By combining his proficiency in microsurgical neurosurgical techniques with cutting-edge technology, he provides comprehensive patient care. Dedicated to enhancing medical education and advancing knowledge, he actively participates in resident instruction and scholarly research for the combined BIDMC/BMC Neurosurgical Residency Program.
