La colitis ulcerosa es una enfermedad inflamatoria intestinal (EII) que causa inflamación y úlceras (llagas) en el intestino grueso (colon) y el recto. Doloroso y debilitante, no existe cura, pero es posible una remisión a largo plazo y una reducción de los síntomas con tratamiento.
