 Please Note:BMC OB providers can place a Curbside Care referral for a prenatal patient, with the order "Ambulatory Referral to OB/Pedi Curbside Care." Please make sure the patient is at least 30 weeks pregnant and meets the eligibility criteria.

- Postpartum mood disorder screening and referrals
- Blood pressure monitoring and treatment
- Birth control, including long-acting reversible contraceptives like Nexplanon
- Chronic disease management

  ![The BMC Curbside Care mobile care delivery van (a large green service vehicle)](/sites/default/files/inline-images/the%20van.jpg)A Curbside Care visit provides the same great care you get when you come to BMC, but right outside your door. Here’s what to expect:

- Our team will call you when we are on the way and again when we are outside your residence.
- You will come onto our mobile clinic with your baby—support people and siblings are welcome!
- We care for you and your newborn together!
- We will address any concerns you have about yourself or your baby.

#### Care for Birthing Person

For you, we:

- Discuss your birth experience, healing, and recovery
- Check your blood pressure
- Do a physical exam
- Discuss your mood and strategies for self-care
- Discuss family planning and provide birth control if desired
    - We can provide you with the Depo-Provera shot, Nexplanon, or emergency contraception (like Plan B or Ella) on the mobile clinic. We can also prescribe other methods, like the pill or patch.

#### Care for Baby

For your baby, we:

- Check weight, temperature, and measurements
- Do a physical exam
- Check for jaundice
- Discuss newborn feeding, care, safety, and development

#### Care for Both

We also provide care that helps both you and your baby, including:

- Give breastfeeding/pumping assistance, if you’re giving your baby breast milk
- Review what to expect postpartum and with a new baby
- Discuss how and when to call your providers
- Discuss ways to interact with your baby to promote bonding and development
    - Connect interested families to [The Basics Boston](https://thebasicsboston.org/welcome/ "Welcome to The Basics Movement! | The Basics Boston (thebasicsboston.org)") text messaging program and resources
- Connect you and your baby to primary care and specialty services as needed

Our lactation team can help you with:

- Positioning your baby at the breast
- Using a breast pump
- Breastfeeding challenges, such as nipple pain or difficulty with latching
- Feeding multiples
- Referrals to specialists if needed, including BMC’s [Breastfeeding Medicine Clinic](/departments/obstetrics-and-gynecology/obstetrics/resources-patients/breastfeeding-and-lactation-medicine-center "The Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine Center | Boston Medical Center")
- Connections to ongoing lactation support, like the [BMC Baby Cafe](/departments/obstetrics-and-gynecology/obstetrics/resources-patients/how-bmc-supports-breastfeeding "Department of OB/GYN: Division of Obstetrics: Breastfeeding | Boston Medical Center") or [Vital Village/Boston Breastfeeding Coalition](https://www.vitalvillage.org/resources/all_baby_cafes_promotion_flyer-1.pdf "Vital Village Networks/Boston Breastfeeding Coalition: Free Lactation Support Informational Flyer (PDF)")

Curbside Care patients have access to loans of hospital-grade breast pumps. Patients are also eligible for donor breast milk through our partnership with [Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast](https://milkbankne.org/ "Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast (milkbankne.org)").

All Curbside Care patients are eligible for:

- A free baby thermometer
- A free pack of diapers and baby wipes through our partnership with [Cradles to Crayons](https://www.cradlestocrayons.org/boston/ "Boston Home | Cradles to Crayons (cradlestocrayons.org)")
- A free book from the national [Reach Out and Read](https://reachoutandread.org/what-we-do/ "What We Do | Reach Out and Read (reachoutandread.org)") program
- Free food delivered by the [BMC Preventive Food Pantry](/nourishing-our-community/preventive-food-pantry "Preventive Food Pantry | Boston Medical Center") team
- Financial assistance through BMC’s [StreetCred](/streetcred "StreetCred | Boston Medical Center") program, which offers financial coaching, assistance with tax preparation, and connection to benefits like WIC, SNAP, and Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML)
- Connection to the BMC Pediatrics [Family Navigation Team](/programs/center-family-navigation-and-community-health-promotion "Department of Pediatrics: Center for Family Navigation and Community Health Promotion | Boston Medical Center")
