NEW: Upcoming Changes to Visitor Policy

Beginning May 28, the following changes to the BMC visitor policy will be in effect:

  • Visiting hours for COVID-negative Med/Surg and ICU patients will be noon to 7 p.m.
  • COVID-negative ICU patients will be able to have two visitors at a time. Med/Surg patients will still only be allowed to have one visitor per day.
  • Adult hospice patients will be permitted to have one overnight visitor. Each patient may have more than one visitor during their stay, but not more than one visitor per night.
  • For pediatric patients, including NICU patients, two parents/guardians may visit. Visitation is allowed 24/7.

Visitor policies for Ambulatory, Labor and Delivery, and the Emergency Department will remain the same, but we will continue to review in the coming weeks. The visitor policy can be found on the Hub and BMC.org.

REMINDER: Help Ensure Our Patients Get Vaccinated While at BMC’s Campus

As more patients return to campus, we have an important opportunity to get more people in the communities we serve vaccinated. It is critical that we take advantage of every patient encounter to encourage vaccination. Tips on how to talk with patients about vaccination, as well as talking points, can be found on the Hub.

A new COVID vaccine best practice alert (BPA) for eligible, unvaccinated patients has been turned on in Epic. This BPA will alert providers at the point of order entry. Please help make sure that that any patient who comes to BMC knows they can get vaccinated while on campus, if they haven’t already.

Beginning on June 1, COVID-19 vaccines will be available in primary care clinics, including General Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatric Primary Care, Geriatrics, Infectious Diseases. Vaccines are also currently available in the Emergency Department.

Later in June, certain specialty clinics – including Ophthalmology, OMFS, Pedi Dental, OBGYN, Renal, Pulmonary, Otolaryngology, and Endocrine – will receive COVID-19 vaccines, followed by other clinics to be determined. Clinics that will receive vaccines will receive additional information.

NEW: COVID-Related Policies and Guidelines Being Reviewed

In light of new recommendations from the CDC, as well as the MA state of emergency being lifted later this month, BMC is reviewing policies guidelines related to COVID-19, including pre-procedure testing, PPE guidelines, screening processes, and more. More information will be coming soon.

NEW: 85 E. Concord Vaccine Clinic Closing

The vaccine clinic at 85 E. Concord St. will close on June 11. If a patient needs a COVID-19 vaccine and you are not able to vaccinate them in your clinic, please send them to the vaccination clinic on the Dowling ground floor. Going forward, Dowling will be the walk-in site for all COVID-19 vaccinations at BMC.

REMINDER: Take the Employee Vaccine Champion Challenge!

To help get more of our communities vaccinated, take our Employee Vaccine Champion Challenge and get your friends, families, and neighbors the information they need!

By completing just four simple steps, you can become an official "vaccine champion" and have the chance to be highlighted on our communications channels. If you complete all four steps, you’ll get a special BMC Vaccine Champion hat!  Visit the Hub to learn more.

REMINDER: All Employees are Encouraged to Get the COVID-19 Vaccine

Employees who still need to get vaccinated can walk-in to the Employee Administration Clinic in Dowling during hours of operation:

  • Monday through Thursday, 8-10 a.m.
  • Friday, 3-5 p.m.

Employees can also call 617-638-9660 (ext. 8-9660) 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Saturday to schedule an appointment.

If you received your vaccination somewhere other than BMC, please email COVIDVAX@bmc.org, so we can keep an accurate count of employee vaccinations.
