REMINDER: All Employees and LIPs Must Continue to Follow PPE Policies

All BMC employees and licensed independent practitioners (LIPs) must continue to follow our hospital PPE policies, even after vaccination. This means wearing:

  • A surgical or KN mask, eye covering, and gloves in all non-COVID patient care areas
  • An N95, eye protection, double gloves, and gowns when caring for patients with COVID-19

We’ve seen a small increase in health care worker infections in the last week. While there are many potential factors, we know that one cause is not using proper PPE during patient care. Although COVID-19 infection is rare after vaccination, it is possible, including one instance at BMC in the last week where the individual did not use recommended PPE for an aerosolizing procedure. We must all continue to be vigilant to protect ourselves, our patients, and each other.

UPDATED: Employee Vaccinations

On Thursday, April 1 and Friday, April 2, our Employee Administration Clinic in Dowling will be offering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Due to supply unpredictability, we are generally unable to let employees choose which vaccine they will receive. However, due to our current supply we are able to offer the J&J vaccine on these days.

One of the best ways we can protect ourselves is having as many employees as possible receive COVID-19 vaccinations. To sign up for the vaccine, please click the link below – you may also walk in during clinic hours, which are listed below. This link is only available to employees – please do not distribute.

Employee Clinic Hours

NEW: BMC COVID-19 Vaccine Video Promoted by Facebook

As part of their effort to ensure users see scientifically-backed information about COVID-19 vaccines, Facebook promotes select COVID-19 content from hospitals to all Facebook users. Last week, Facebook promoted a BMC video of Kettie Louis, NP, obstetrics and gynecology, sharing her vaccine story and addressing issues around vaccine hesitancy.

The video now has over 36 million views from around the world!  Thank you to Kettie and all those who have shared their vaccine story on our social media channels, with our patients, and the broader community.
