NEW: Operations and Clinical Updates Bulletin Schedule
As we continue to welcome more patients and staff back to campus in accordance with State guidelines, we will be transitioning this communication to be distributed weekly on Wednesday afternoons. The updates will continue to focus on clinical and operations information, as well as any timely updates related to COVID-19. Please refer to the Hub and the Week Ahead newsletter, which is issued on Monday, for other BMC updates, including information about HR activities and programs and BMC events (both virtual and on-site).
NEW: Bed Planning
- We have closed the D Pod in the Emergency Department until our volume requires us to reopen it for non-COVID Observation level patients.
- At the end of business today, June 19, Moakley Med Surg A located on the second floor of Moakley, will close to inpatients and revert back to pre-COVID status as the Moakley PreOp area.
REMINDER: Surgical Mask Distribution to Staff
Please note that all staff will be issued one surgical mask per day upon entry to the hospital. This mask should be worn in all patient care areas and all non-clinical areas where you are in close vicinity to other people.
This mask can be used for the entirety of a shift, even if you take it off to wear an N95 mask. When not wearing the mask, it should be kept away from high touch surfaces – using a brown paper bag or clean paper towels is better than a common table or desk.
NEW: Fit Testing the Week of June 22
Drop-in fit testing will be offered for any staff member who needs fit testing in the Menino 2B conference room on the following dates and times:
- Monday, June 22: 6-9 a.m.
- Thursday, June 25: 2-5 p.m.
Additional sessions will be held the week of June 26. Dates and times will be communicated in next week’s Bulletin.
NEW: Outdoor Seating on Moakley Green
To help alleviate congestion in break rooms, the Facilities Team has added picnic tables to the Moakley Green for staff to enjoy lunch or a break outdoors.
UPDATE: Hotel Program End-Date for Staff Members
Thank you to everyone who has taken advantage of the hotel program. Over 4,000 nights have been booked at the hotels and over 200 of you have used this resource!
We recognize there may be some continued need as the hospital transitions to a new normal, but the hotel program will officially end July 31, aligning with the State's Phase 4 timeline. No new bookings will be accepted after July 17 and extensions to any current reservations will require manager approval. Going forward, all new bookings will be made at the Hampton Inn at Crosstown. We appreciate everyone working together to preserve rooms for people who need them most.
Special accommodations are still available for all COVID positive or suspected staff that want to be isolated.
To request accommodations, send an email to [email protected] and copy your manager, with the following: your name, what unit you work in, a brief description of your need, and desired dates/anticipated duration for your stay. Kelly will support your accommodation process from start to finish, and may follow up with your manager, if necessary.
REMINDER: Upcoming Refresh Stations
A refresh station, sponsored by the HR Department, will be available for employees on the balcony of the Menino lobby on Saturday, June 20 from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
All staff are welcome to come through the station (which will be set up with appropriate social distancing) for a quick break and to grab a treat.
