UPDATE: Employees Who Have Returned to Work after Testing COVID Positive

As of today, May 8, 230 of our employees who tested positive for COVID-19 have returned to work. It is wonderful to be able to welcome these employees back to BMC, and we thank them for all they are doing to care for our patients!

NEW: Inpatient Bed Planning

While we believe that we are currently past the peak in confirmed COVID-19 inpatient cases as our COVID-19 daily census has been declining over the past two weeks, our non-COVID volume has significantly increased. Therefore, we have transitioned 6E to a non-COVID unit and will continue to evaluate from which surge areas we can decant to allow us to care for our COVID-19 and non-COVID patients. There will be additional information next week about our recovery planning efforts, which are underway.

NEW: Upcoming Refresh Stations May 9, May 11, and May 12

The “refresh station,” sponsored by the HR department, will be available for employees on the balcony of the Menino lobby on the following dates and times:

  • Saturday, May 9 from 2-5 p.m.
  • Monday, May 11 from 10:30 p.m. – 1 a.m.
  • Tuesday, May 12 from 6:30 – 9:30 a.m.

All staff are welcome to come through the station (which will be set up with appropriate social distancing) for a quick break and to grab a treat.

NEW: Thank You to Everyone Building Face Shields Donated By MIT

MIT has generously donated over 35,000 face shield kits to BMC to help protect our frontline staff. To help ensure these face shields get to those who need them as quickly as possible, many people both inside and outside the hospital have donated their time to helping build the shields. So far, a mix of Ambulatory teams and outside companies have built over 20,000 face shields, with some departments putting together over 500! Thank you to everyone who has helped with this incredible effort to keep our employees safe as they care for our COVID positive patients.

VIDEO: Happy Nurses Week!

In case you missed it, Chief Nursing Officer Nancy Gaden, DNP, RN, reflects on the incredible history of nursing – a field defined by its ability to step up in times of struggle – just as her team has throughout this pandemic. Thank you, nurses!

Special Shout-out from BMC Daughter to BMC Mom in Honor of Mother’s Day

"She is my #hero because she takes such great pride in her work. I also work at BMC and she is the reason I applied, she always spoke with such great love of our #hospital."
