Dear Colleagues,

As the number of COVID-19 cases increases rapidly in Massachusetts and across the region, we know that there is appropriate interest in confirmed cases of COVID-19 for both BMC patients and staff.  Moving forward, we will be sharing this information via our regular updates.  In addition to reporting this information to DPH, we are also sharing with local media outlets as they seek to keep the public informed.

COVID-19 Cases:

BMC Total Inpatients:

BMC Inpatients Requiring Intensive Care:

BMC Employees/Providers who have tested positive:

As you review these numbers, please keep in mind two important points: there is a significant amount of community spread happening in our communities, and as our in-house testing ramps up, we unfortunately will see our staff numbers increase.

We want to recognize the extraordinary team effort led by George Murphy, PhD, co-director of the Center for Regenerative Medicine (CReM) of Boston University and BMC, and Chris Andry, PhD, chief and chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at BMC and Boston University School of Medicine.  Their teams worked 24/7 to stand up our in-house testing for COVID-19.  You can read more about their journey, which included support from area hospitals and labs including MGH and the Broad Institute, and a fast-tracked approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
