A gastrostomy tube, also called a G-tube, is a type of feeding tube used when people can't get nutrition through their mouth. The G-tube allows nutrition, hydration, and/or medicine to be delivered directly into the stomach.

G-tubes can be placed by a surgeon or by a radiologist, who will use X-ray to guide the placement. Both types of placement are done under anesthesia.
