Most pregnant people can travel safely until their last month of pregnancy. But it’s always a good idea to talk with your provider before making travel plans, especially if you have any health conditions or are close to your due date.

## Safe Travel Tips

- Wear your seatbelt. Always buckle up with your seatbelt low and snug across your hips and below your belly.
- Take breaks every two hours when driving to stretch your legs and move around.
- Get up and walk every hour on flights to improve circulation and prevent blood clots.
- Use compression stockings for long drives or flights to reduce swelling and support blood flow.
- Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water to help prevent dehydration and headaches.
- Carry a copy of your prenatal records. This helps any provider know your history if you need care while traveling.
- Know where to go in an emergency. Look up nearby hospitals or urgent care centers just in case.

## Choosing Where to Travel During Pregnancy

Before you book a trip, consider the following:

- Check for travel alerts related to health, safety, or disease outbreaks in the area.
- Avoid areas with limited access to medical care, especially in the third trimester.
- Talk to your provider about vaccines, medications, or concerns about specific destinations.
