## About

Sabrina E. Sanchez, MD, MPH, FACS, is a board-certified trauma surgeon and surgical critical care intensivist at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Section of Trauma and Critical Care Surgery at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, where she also serves as Vice Chair for Faculty Development and Equity.

Dr. Sanchez received ...  her medical degree from the University of Illinois School of Medicine in Chicago and completed her general surgery residency training at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor. She additionally holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the University of Washington and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

Dr. Sanchez has a specific interest in the care of geriatric patients as well as surgical palliative care and medical ethics. She is actively involved in research, including work related to evaluating and mitigating the effects of social determinants of health on vulnerable populations and promoting patient-centered care and shared decisionmaking in surgery.

Dr. Sanchez is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion on the BU medical campus and at the national level. To that end, she works toward the recruitment and promotion of surgeons from underrepresented backgrounds as a key way to address inequities in care.

Dr. Sanchez was the recipient of the 2019 Boston University Medical Group New Faculty Excellence Award, which recognizes clinical excellence and exceptional contributions to BMC and its patients. Her expertise spans the breadth of her clinical specialty.
