Niloo M. Edwards, MD, is a thoracic surgeon and Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Boston Medical Center (BMC). Dr. Edwards is an expert in aortic surgery, mitral valve repair, and endocarditis. He received his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1986 and completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital. During residency, he completed a research fellowship in heart transplantation, and following graduation went on to complete a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery, also at Columbia. He is a professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and a commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve Medical Corps.
