Joanna Piechniczek-Buczek, MD is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine and Executive Vice-Chair in the Department of Psychiatry at Boston Medical Center. She is also Medical Director of the Emergency Services Programs in the Boston and Cambridge/Somerville areas and Fall River. She graduated from the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland and completed a General Psychiatry residency and Addiction Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry fellowships at Boston University School of Medicine. She is also a graduate of the prestigious Alcohol Medical Scholars Program. Prior to assuming her role as Executive Vice-Chair of Psychiatry at Boston Medical Center, Dr. Piechniczek-Buczek held numerous leadership positions, including Medical Director of Addiction Services at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School and Chief of Psychiatry at Quincy Medical Center.
