Dr. James W. Holsapple is a board-certified neurosurgeon and the Chief of Neurosurgery at Boston Medical Center (BMC), and an associate professor of neurosurgery and pediatrics and Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Boston University Chobanian &amp; Avedisian School of Medicine.

Dr. Holsapple specializes in brain tumors, brain trauma, cerebral aneurysm, trigeminal neuralgia, and pediatric neurosurgery. He has authored numerous ...  papers, peer-reviewed articles, chapters, and case reports. Dr. Holsapple’s research interests include primate visual and motor processing and human brain tumor management and biology.

Dr. Holsapple received his medical degree from University of Kansas School of Medicine and his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Drake University. He completed an internship in internal medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, Missouri, and an internship in general surgery and residency in neurological surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University, where he was also a National Research Service Award Fellow in the departments of neurological surgery and physiology.
