## About

Ivania M. Rizo, MD, is a board-certified endocrinologist and the Director of Obesity Medicine at Boston Medical Center (BMC). Dr. Rizo is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology, Diabetes, Nutrition & Weight Management) at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

After completing her endocrinology fellowship at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, Dr. Rizo worked there as an assistant ...  professor and staff physician before joining BMC and BU.

Dr. Rizo is passionate about diabetes, obesity, and health equity. She is triple board-certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, and Obesity Medicine. She has a clinical interest in obesity, diabetes, and metabolic disorders.

Dr. Rizo is also the Diabetes Clinical Co-Lead of BMC’s Health Equity Accelerator, where she creates programs to increase equitable access to diabetes and obesity care and provide exceptional care without exception.

Dr. Rizo is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Diabetes Association, and the Obesity Society.
