Dominic V. Pisano, MD, is a board-certified anesthesiologist and critical care medicine physician at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and a Clinical Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the Boston University Chobanian &amp; Avedisian School of Medicine. He directed the [Anesthesiology Residency Program at Boston Medical ... Dr. Pisano began practicing at BMC in November 2023 and has served as Rotation Director of the Surgical and Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (SNICU) since June 2024. In this role, he has expanded didactic sessions to include clinical simulation at the [Alan D. Solomont &amp; Susan Lewis Solomont Clinical Simulation &amp; Nursing Education Center](/node/175828 "Solomont Simulation Center | Boston Medical Center (bmc.org)") and introduced a once-monthly ultrasound teaching session in conjunction with the ultrasound fellowship in the Emergency Department.

Prior to joining BMC Health System, Dr. Pisano served as Site Director at the Miriam Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, and Assistant Program Director of the Anesthesiology Residency Program at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He then served as the inaugural Internship Program Director at Tufts Medical Center in Boston and Assistant Program Director for its Anesthesiology Residency Program, which he helped transition from advanced to categorical. He has received several awards for his clinical and education work, including the Golden Apple Teaching Award and the Ellison C. Pierce, MD Patient Safety/Teaching Award from BU.

Dr. Pisano’s clinical and research interests include mechanical circulatory support, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), the physiologically difficult airway, regional anesthesia and pain management in the critically ill, and the advancement of d/Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in healthcare professions. He has published extensively on ECMO and is a frequent guest editor of the *Journal of Cardiovascular Anesthesia*. He currently serves on the Critical Care Medicine Interest Group for the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists as well as the Airway and Ventilation Management Course Committee at the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
