BMC Stories

BMC is proud to announce the openings of its new Preventive Food Pantry, Demonstration Kitchen, and cafeteria!

Halloween is a popular holiday here at BMC, especially with our therapy dogs! These extremely popular staff members are also known as Healing Pups, and together, they comprise some of the most well-known – and much-loved – faces on campus.

Transitioning from the busy school year into the dog days of summer can be an exciting time for children and their families. However, the fun that comes with summer activities can often lead to unexpected ED visits. ED Physician and Division Chief of Pediatric Medicine David Dorfman, MD, wants to remind you to stay safe this summer, whether you’re at the beach, in the pool, or in your own backyard.

Everyone should take care of their health and have an annual physical. As adults, we are so often caught up in taking care of everyone else that we forget ourselves. This summer, let BMC take care of you!

Jacqueline Burning is an 81-year-old woman in good health, from Leicester, Massachusetts. However, in 2013, she began having trouble swallowing whenever she’d try to eat or drink and she was losing weight. She visited her primary care doctor. Tests revealed that she had developed a Zenker’s diverticulum.

This time of year makes everyone eager to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. “When spending time outside, keep in mind that protecting your skin from the sun is an important part of overall health,” says BMC Dermatology Medical Director, Dr. Christina Lam.
