Dr. Holick's research team and their interests regarding Women's Health are involved with developing new approaches
in the treatment of menopausal symptoms and osteoporosis in women. They have synthesized a new conjugated estrogen
that they have begun to evaluate for the treatment of perimenopausal symptoms in women. They are also evaluating this
new drug as a potential safe new estrogen for the prevention of osteoporosis in perimenopausal women. The third
generation bisphosphonate is likely to be much more bioavailable than current bisphosphonates that are on the market
and they are also less likely to cause gastrointestinal symptoms that can be associated with the second-generation
amino bisphosphonates.
