POLICY AND GUIDELINES
There is a demonstrated need to expand research in women’s health, and to
increase the number of excellent researchers in women’s health. In an effort to
accomplish this, the Boston University Interdisciplinary Women’s Health Research Scholars Program will provide 80% protected research time to four Scholars conducting research in the field of women’s health. Potential candidates include BUSM junior faculty as well as candidates who are being recruited to join the faculty, and for whom the funding will constitute part of their initial offer package.
The primary appointment of each Scholar will be through their Department. Candidates with and without prior formal research methods training are encouraged to apply. For Scholars without prior research training, appointments are typically for two to three years, in order that they complete a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology, Health Services Research or Clinical Research. Appointments for scholars with prior research training are typically one to two years. All Scholars are required to complete an annual progress report and submit plans for the coming
year. Successful review by the Advisory Board is required to continue funding.
