Welcome!
The Volunteer Services Department at Boston Medical Center (BMC)
is dedicated to helping BMC fulfill its mission of providing excellent
and accessible health services to all in need of care, regardless of status or ability to pay.
Our corps of dedicated volunteers continues to grow as we support staff, patients and families.
Approximately half of our volunteers come from Boston neighborhoods. Others come from neighboring towns and cities.
Volunteers support virtually all areas of BMC, performing a wide range of services and tasks. Like our staff
and patients, BMC volunteers represent a variety of ages, cultures and backgrounds.
Boston Medical Center volunteers make a difference in a real way for patients during a vulnerable time in their lives. They feel satisfaction in knowing that they are helping others and that they are working as part of a dynamic team to further the mission of BMC in providing exceptional care without exception.
BMC welcomes volunteers who are at least 16 years of age, in good health and willing to go where needed. BMC volunteers commit to a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer work during their time of service and take on regular shifts of at least three hours per week.
