The Menino Pavilion is designed to meet the needs of the critically injured patient. From the Emergency Department, the patient may require a surgical procedure in the operating room and may have to be carefully monitored and managed in the intensive care unit (ICU). As improvement occurs, the patient can be transferred to a surgical inpatient floor to facilitate the transition to a discharge home or to a rehabilitation unit. Case coordinators will work closely with the patient and family to develop the optimal discharge plan. The coordination of care and effective collaboration between departments leads to the best possible outcome for patients at BMC.
