Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Consumer Education

Stepping Forward - Staying Informed

The Stepping Forward-Staying Informed Evening Lecture Series takes place every other month, typically January, March, May, July, September, and November of each year.

Lectures take place at Boston Medical Center in the Boston University School of Medicine Building located at 72 East Concord St. on the 14th floor in the Heibert Lounge.

Our spinal cord injury Advisory Board helps us choose topics for the lectures based on results of surveys of our consumers. Each year approximately 375 individuals attend these lectures. We are proud to have provided educational opportunities to over 1000 individuals since we began this program in 2006. We continue to be committed to our goal of brining top researchers and clinicians to those living with spinal cord injury in an accessible format.

Pre-Registration is required for all lectures. There is a fee of $10.00 to attend if paid in advance. Please visit the current lecture page of our site for information on this month’s lecture and to register.

Lectures are recorded and available to view online or on DVD after the event. Please see the past lecture section of our website to view past lectures.

The Greater Boston Chapter of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association holds a support group meeting prior to each lecture. The support group begins at 4:30 PM and is open to individuals with spinal cord injuries and their family or friends.

There will be a family support group offered at the same time as the SCI support group. The family group will begin at 5:00PM. Please check in at the lecture registration for group location.
